Stowe Bike Path: Exploring the Great Outdoors

The Stowe Recreation Path is at the top of my to-do list for anyone visiting or living in Vermont.  Whether you’re biking, running, walking your dog or pushing a stroller, the five-mile path is a perfect place to enjoy the outdoors.

Mostly flat and level, the Stowe bike path meanders along the West Branch River and features bridges, swimming holes, park benches, picnic tables and scenic views of Mount Mansfield.

The award-winning path is free to use and is open year-round (I’m thinking about trying Nordic skiing on the path this winter!). You can access the path off Main Street/Route 100 behind the Stowe Community Church or along Route 108.

It’s been awhile since I’ve biked this path but it is definitely NOT flat and level. Portions of it might be and it is not very steep but still not definitely flat. It’s breathtaking and wonderful to ride but at times can be quite crowded.

    Hi Joansie,

Thanks for commenting. There are a few slight inclines but for the most part I think the path is easy to travel. It can get busy on weekends in the summer and fall, but I like the leisurely pace of it all. I don’t feel like I have to worry too much about someone flying by while I am pushing my daughter in her stroller!

I’ve used this path for biking a few times when I’ve returned to Vermont… we were lucky as it wasn’t at all crowded and a really good time! Larry
