Curtis Pond in Calais

Several years ago I came across Curtis Pond while driving aimlessly along the back roads of central Vermont. The pond, located in the tiny town of Calais, includes a public swimming area and access for kayaks and canoes.

This week I stopped by the pond to see if anything had changed since my last visit more than a decade ago. Like most places in Vermont, it was exactly as I remembered.

Looks heavenly! We’re looking forward to a quick visit to Vt. in September, once my daughter is settled in college… can’t wait! 🙂

I had to look on the map and see where Calais is located. The name rings a bell, but I was thinking it was much farther into the NE Kingdom.

Hi William — Try to work it into your plans if you can. The area around the pond (Calais, East Montpelier) is absolutely beautiful.

Hi Mary — Have a wonderful time! I look forward to seeing your photos of VT.

Hi Matt — Calais is just north of Montpelier. It’s one of my favorite parts of north central VT.

I had a camp on Curtis Pond for about 15 years. This was one of the happiest periods of my life.
    It is a magical place.
