Vermont Roots on the Rails Train Ride Brings Together Music Lovers

For the past few months, I’ve been working with Bellows Falls painter Charlie Hunter on generating media coverage for his first Vermont Roots on the Rails train ride.

The Nov. 7 ride, from Bellows Falls to Rutland, featured musicians Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Syd Straw, Winterpills, and The Meadows Brothers.

Roots on the Rails, founded by Hunter, has offered more than 40 multi-day train trips across the United States and Canada since 2003.

Roots on the Rails has mostly focused on providing trips in Canada and the western United States. While it’s not uncommon to find mystery or dining train rides offered in New England, anyone looking for a live music train in this part of the country has come up short. Until now. Also, plans for a 2016 Vermont Roots on the Rails ride are already underway.
