Ever since I moved back to Vermont nearly six years ago, Owl's Head Blueberry Farm has been on my list of places to visit. Located in Richmond, the farm offers blueberry picking seven days a week in July and August.
One of the things that makes Owl's Head Blueberry Farm so special is the live music guests can enjoy while blueberry picking on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
After work on Tuesday, Dave and I picked four quarts of blueberries listening to Doug Perkins play bluegrass music on a small stage just beyond the rows of bushes. Near the stage, people relaxed on picnic blankets enjoying wine and cheese while soaking up views of the hillsides of eastern Chittenden County. It was, without a doubt, a perfect summer evening.
Owl's Head Farm just gave me one more reason to love Vermont. And blueberries.

What a happy night. There are so many wonderful recipes for blueberries. Of course just in a bowl of cheerios is good too.

ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you posted this. I remember going to this farm years ago but couldn't recall the name of it. I loved the combination of bluegrass music and berry picking.

ReplyDeleteVermont is beautiful! Blueberry farms are the best. We were in Down East Maine recently and the wild Maine blueberries are amazing!
ReplyDeleteI have a friend who lives in Richmond, VT, the next time I see her I'll have to have her bring some of those delicious berries.
Have you made any blueberry jam? It's so easy and you'll love the tase of summer love in a jar in January! If you haven't tried canning/preserving I highly recommend it.
