Winter in Weston

I love a winter bluebird day as much as anyone, but there is something about a gray winter sky that is very comforting, too. Dave and I visited the town of Weston last weekend for a quiet getaway. I spent a little time photographing some places on Route 100 Sunday morning.

Catamount Outdoor Family Center

Camel's Hump

The view of Camel’s Hump from Catamount Outdoor Family Center is vast and wide. I see Vermont’s third tallest peak every day on my way to work, but looking at the mountain from the open fields of this former Williston farm is something very different.

From here you can see families spending the day cross-country skiing, snowshoeing or mountain biking with Camel’s Hump in the background. You'll also spot a couple of adorable and well-behaved donkeys at the center named Fred and Ethel.

The family-owned, 520-acre center strikes the perfect balance between recreation, community and conservation.
