Sunsets in late fall and early winter have a certain edge to them. The sky is crisp, bright and blue, and the cold air seems to make everything a little more intense.
These photos were taken last week in Burlington along Lake Champlain on a gorgeous afternoon. I'm glad I had my jacket and gloves with me that day. Because when the sun goes down in November, it gets chilly really fast.

Beautiful sunset, can feel the chill in the air though.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots Erica... I also enjoyed the photo of the barn the other day... I recognized it, having passed by it often through the years... I do enjoy your blog! Larry
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful is that..great shots...and yes to me these sunsets are the ones now
ReplyDeleteOn Tuesday morning there was a beautiful rainbow out over the lake around 7:30. It left quickly; I turned around to show it to someone, and it was gone!
ReplyDeleteLove your posts! November always seems some kind of a let down, but then you see a green expense of grass with an eggshell blue sky overhead... or the reflection of the sky in reedy pond... you realize all the colors are subtly different, clearer, more sober...
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning sunset. The lake is so calm, it looks like there wasn't a ripple.
ReplyDeleteHi Sheilagh -- Thanks so much. Yes, the chill in the air is definitely here!
ReplyDeleteThanks Larry. I'm so glad you recognized the barn, too. I heard that from quite a few people. It's one of those barns that really stands out!
Hi Will -- They are very intense -- but so early!
Thanks Anonymous. I wish I had seen those rainbows.
Hi Hilke -- November definitely has a certain feel to it, and I find it to be very warm and cozy. It still has remnants of color, unlike March and April, which can be pretty drab up north.
Hi Susan -- It was really calm that day. I went by the lake today and it was really choppy with the wind blowing.
beautiful sunset! I remember watching a wicked thunderstorm on that lake. I could see the whole length of clouds with the lightning coming down. It was quite a view.
ReplyDeleteHi Larry - I bet it was incredible. The weather changes so quickly on the lake, and watching a storm come through is always exciting.
ReplyDeleteI find that one of the good things about the short days is that you have good light for photography through most of the day. You can also take a good sunset photo and still have plenty of time for a cozy evening.
ReplyDeleteYou are such an optimist Chris! It's so true about the light being good for photography during most of the day this time of year.
ReplyDeleteSO VERY MAGICAL, Erica....!
ReplyDeleteI love the clearness, the sharpess and the deep shades of all these goldenorange shades.....A breathtaking sunset over the lake!!!!
Take care!!!
