  1. I know this barn and this lovely stretch of Route 100 north of Rochester. It's enough to coax us into the 10-hour drive to Vermont. Thanks.

  2. You take the best pictures. Imagine waking up and seeing that everyday.

  3. An old barn around the corner from my home has collapsed through owner neglect. So sad. These evoke a past that really is fading, a time when a few cows could sustain a family. It's not so easy now, but good that we have a few reminders.

  4. Hi David -- That's a long ride! I'm glad to hear that you recognize this barn, it seems to be one of those Route 100 landmarks between Killington and Waterbury.

Hi Susan -- Thank you! There's a house right across the street from the barn, and I imagine they are the owners. They are lucky enough to wake up and see this beautiful barn every day!

Hi Chris -- I'm so sorry to hear about the barn near your home. It's so sad to see collapsed barns (I saw one yesterday in Rochester after taking this photo). You're right, barns are certainly a reminder of the way life used to be in VT.

  6. I really like this. Route 100 is a great drive.
I think you learn more about the state than if you drive Route 7. Of course, it is much slower and time consuming too.

  7. Thanks Sheilagh!

Hi Matt -- Route 100 is really nice. It definitely gives you a real feel for the state, and the route has generally been well protected from development.
