November Landscape

Sunny days are in short supply this time of year. On top of the cloudiness, the leaves are gone and the days are shorter. Sounds enticing, right? Actually, it really is nice. In Vermont we call this “Stick Season,” which takes place between late October and early December.

The stark landscape is particularly beautiful right now as it contrasts with the snow-covered mountains. The higher peaks all have snow right now, including Camel’s Hump, Mount Mansfield, Killington and Jay Peak.

Ski season will be here before you know it (Killington is already open). But in the meantime, I’m going to enjoy this quiet little season.

The trees do look rather bare but the sun looks very bright! Today felt like a winter day as we had wind and sleet.

What a positive person you are. November for me is always so darn gray. When you think about it in those terms the trees are quite beautiful in the bareness. November will never look the same to me again. Thank you for the wonderful photo.

We still get a few guests this time of year. One couple who came in today are regulars who come this time each year. They enjoy the quiet and uncrowded atmosphere.

Wonderful image of the hump peeking over the hills and through the clouds.

winter has set in in Idaho. I don’t think any of our ski areas are open except for Sun valley. Grand Tarhgee in Wyoming is open and they have lots of snow. The skis and ready and so am I?

Hi Rich — Seriously, everyone seems to be getting pretty antsy for ski season! It won’t be long before the snow flies and all of the resorts are open. Enjoy!
