Bristol Pond is one of those perfect places to spend a sunny, fall afternoon. The pond, also known as Winona Lake, is a beautiful spot for canoeing, kayaking and fishing. The Hogback Mountains sit along the eastern border of Bristol Pond, making the area especially scenic. You can access the pond off the Bristol-Monkton Road, a few miles north of the town of Bristol.
When I stopped by the pond a few days ago to admire the fall foliage, I was really happy to have my camera with me. Now I just need to buy a kayak.

So peaceful Erica! Sure makes me want to visit!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a wonderful place to spend a few days. There must be several Hogback Mountains in the state. There is one right near Brattleboro off Rte 9 - great place to go hiking.
ReplyDeleteJust caught up with your recent posts - thanks for the link to Newfane Heritage Festival. We had a great weekend with what I like to call "tourist bureau weather" - delightful, picture perfect. Wonderful images fyou post from around the state - wish I could get to the north part more often.
ReplyDeleteHi Chris -- I'm so glad the Newfane Heritage Festival was a success. Columbus Day Weekend was so beautiful, and the weather was perfect for the event. Hope you're doing well!
ReplyDeleteThank you Lorac! It's a beautiful spot.
ReplyDeleteHi Hilke -- I was thinking about Hogback in southern VT when I was writing this post. The Hogback you refer to is on my list to visit! Hope you're having a lovely fall in southern VT. How about that snow?!?
