Lovely photos, but it has made me think how we all post the beautiful "chamber of commerce" winter photos and ignore the more common truth - that dirty piles of melting snow are much more characteristic. The wonderland of new snow is so fleeting, but it does inspire the spirit. Is that why we do it? If so, I'm glad we do.
That is very true Chris. I think all of the beautiful winter photos that we post on our blogs help keep us going through those dark, difficult days of winter. Like you said, those sunny, beautiful days with fresh snow are fleeting, and they definitely inspire us to embrace all of the beauty that surrounds us.
Ah, just think what it will be like taking photos during mud season! At that point, I don't think our photos will be able to ignore the more common truth.
I was raised in Manchester and wrote for two daily newspapers in Vermont during the 1990s. Since 2006 I have worked for the state tourism office. I am fortunate enough to have a career that gives me the opportunity to promote my home state for a living. HappyVermont.com is all about exploring Vermont on my own time.
